About
Kathmandu to the Sunshine Coast, by way of shipping things.
I am a software engineer from Kathmandu, now on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Five years and two months of that has been production work — the kind where someone’s day goes badly if the deploy goes badly.
I started at Hilife building field-sales and logistics software in Nepal. Three hundred sales officers used the app I worked on, walking routes of thirty shops a day on cheap Android phones with unreliable signal. That job taught me more about resilience than any architecture diagram: if the sync is not offline-tolerant, the order is simply lost, and someone does not get paid.
Then two consumer social apps for the London market at Techjar — Appetite and Mifu, each past ten thousand downloads with a couple of thousand people opening them daily. Serverless on AWS, geospatial clustering over a whole city, group chat, and enough third-party API integration to develop strong opinions about webhook idempotency.
Now at Noize I am building Prodesk, a multi-tenant platform for brands and agencies, with white-labelled subdomains, real-time data and payment rails that reach countries Stripe does not. Alongside that I am partway through a Master of ICT at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
On the side I take on freelance work, which is where the ten five-star reviews come from — clients in seven countries, from a solo coach in Australia to a marketing team in Kazakhstan. Different scale, same job: understand the actual problem, build the smallest thing that solves it, and hand it over so well that nobody needs to call me.
The route so far
Three countries, one line of work.
- 2021 — 23Kathmandu, NepalHilife — field sales, logistics, and 300+ people depending on the app working.
- 2023 — 25Remote — UKTechjar — two consumer apps for the London market, built serverless on AWS.
- 2025 —Sunshine Coast, AustraliaMaster's at UniSC, and now engineering at Noize.
How I work
Four commitments, each one evidenced.
These are not aspirations. Every one is followed by a client who said it first, unprompted, in a public review.
You always know where things stand
Short, plain updates. No silence, no surprise scope. Seven of ten clients brought up communication unprompted.
“His communication was excellent from start to finish, and every question I asked was answered clearly and respectfully.”— Ry, United Kingdom
I look for the problem behind the ticket
The brief is a starting point. If something downstream is going to break, it is cheaper to say so in week one.
“He didn't just complete tasks, he thought ahead, identified potential issues, documented everything properly and built clean, secure, scalable solutions.”— Ry, United Kingdom
It ships on the day I said it would
Estimates are commitments. When something slips, you hear it early enough to do something about it.
“Delivers on time and within budget. I look forward to long-term work.”— DVK13, Kazakhstan
You can maintain it without me
Readable code, real documentation, and a handover that assumes I might not be the next person touching it.
“He also produced one of the best handover documents I have ever received, making future maintenance straightforward.”— Ry, United Kingdom
